Ken Narva, Ph.D

Ken is an internationally recognized senior scientific leader and strategic advisor in ag-biotech with 30+ years of experience advancing innovation across start-up and multinational environments. Proven ability to translate breakthrough science into sustainable, market-ready solutions that create value for growers, consumers, and the broader food production system.

He has built and led high-performing, cross-functional teams delivering business-critical product initiatives across the R&D continuum, from ideation and discovery through early development and regulatory advancement. Deep expertise in intellectual property strategy, including capturing, protecting, and defending high-value innovation.

​

Most recently served as Fellow and Head of Insecticide and Fungicide Discovery at GreenLight Biosciences, where he continues to serve as Scientific Advisor and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board. Led multidisciplinary teams advancing novel sprayable RNAi-based bioinsecticides as environmentally responsible alternatives to conventional chemical insecticides, including Calanthaâ„¢, Norroaâ„¢, and Fortivanceâ„¢/Benchpressâ„¢, while establishing a robust development pipeline.

Previously held scientific leadership roles at Mycogen Corporation, Dow AgroSciences, and Corteva, contributing to the development of breakthrough agricultural biotechnology platforms and products. Led teams delivering biopesticide products for high-value vegetable markets, including MVP and MATTCH, and transgenic products including Herculexâ„¢ RW, Herculexâ„¢ I, SmartStax-Pro, and WideStrikeâ„¢ cotton; also supported Enlist herbicide tolerance traits.

Experienced in establishing and guiding strategic R&D collaborations, partnering with commercial teams on business-to-business engagement, technology positioning, and external innovation opportunities. Trusted board, advisory, and council member for GreenLight Biosciences' Scientific Advisory Board, Genective's Scientific Advisory Board, the Society for Invertebrate Pathology Council, the EU Horizon NextGenBioPest consortium, CAMTech, and the Bacillus thuringiensis International Nomenclature Committee.

Ken has scientific contributions that include 120+ issued U.S. patents and 68 peer-reviewed publications spanning agricultural biotechnology.
