Dean is  an internationally recognized expert in plant pathology, molecular plant-microbe interactions, and agricultural biotechnology. With more than 40 years of experience spanning academia, industry, and technology commercialization, he was Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Florida and Founder and President of Integrated Plant Genetics, Inc. Dr. Gabriel is widely recognized for his pioneering research on citrus canker, citrus greening (HLB), bacterial plant pathogens, and biotechnology-based disease management.

 

He has led major research initiatives in pathogen genomics, molecular diagnostics, biological containment, and risk assessment, while advising government agencies, international organizations, and industry partners.

 

An inventor, entrepreneur, and Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society, Dr. Gabriel combines deep scientific expertise with practical experience in innovation, intellectual property, regulatory science, and technology commercialization to help advance sustainable solutions for global agriculture.
